I get asked this question all the time. There is no right or wrong, it depends on your individual hair and scalp type as well as lifestyle requirements and hair styling needs. Some may need to control scalp oil and enhance fine hair by washing and styling every day. Others may feel the need to wash the hair to feel clean every time they are in the shower. This is not a problem when you are aware what you are washing your scalp and hair with.
There are also some who are in fear of washing the hair because of the presumed associated hair loss. We all lose hair every day, so you will notice more hair loss on wash days. The more days’ in-between hair washing the more hair loss you will see. But one must understand avoiding hair washing will not stop hair loss. Actually this avoidance behavior can cause more hair loss and associated hair anxiety on the days you do wash the hair.
Add that, scalp is skin and you are focused on washing hair. The reason most people choose the frequency of hair washing has more to do with what’s happening at scalp level. Consider this… would you wash your face with a hair shampoo… The scalp skin needs to washed separately to hair to achieve a clean scalp for natural hair loss treatments and also look after the condition of hair during the process of hair loss treatments.
Wash Frequency and Hair Growth Products Brisbane Scalp Cleansing procedure:
- Start with Scalp Brush Therapy 100 strokes all over the scalp
- Cleanse Scalp with Prescriptive Scalp Cleanser
- Use prescriptive Hair Shampoo off the scalp for hair longer than 15cm
- Use prescriptive Hair Conditioner off the scalp for hair is longer than 15cm
So how often should you wash your scalp and hairs? This depends on the problem or problems one is having with the hair and scalp. If there is stubborn scalp scale you may need to use a prescriptive scalp cleanser every day until the scale is under control, this can be the same for scalp oil. During the first 4 months of hair loss treatments including scalp treatments, one would be required to use a prescriptive scalp and hair washing regime every second day or minimum three times a week. If you need to wash more frequently there is a basic scalp and hair washing regime that is separate to your individual hair loss treatments.
Hair Loss Treatments aside, it is recommended everyone follow scalp cleansing and hair washing minimum two times a week for normal healthy scalp and healthy hair. Take a look at what you are washing your scalp with, a hair shampoo simply won’t work just like a scalp cleanser is not a hair shampoo. Always separate scalp from hair. Ask Absolique Trichologist for your prescriptive scalp cleanser and your hairdresser should be able to recommend hair shampoo and hair conditioner for your individual hair type.
