This was an unusual case of Alopecia Hair Loss with various other problems over the scalp at the same time. Understanding and focusing on all symptoms and causes, at the same time, always gives the best chance for results. The most prominent problem in this case was described by Miss M age 17 as ‘rapid hair loss, hair thinning and bald patches’.
Microscopic diagnosis revealed active alopecia areata. There were existing alopecia areata bald patches but also, old alopecia areata patches from 5 months earlier. Existing and old alopecia areata patches had now overlapped. Some areas of patches had started to regrow, but were not growing back properly. Checking in on the hair cell and hair cycle also uncovered diffuse hair thinning. Diffuse hair thinning represents the hair not growing to genetic hair type and has many causes. We confirmed this was non-scarring alopecia areata. The follicle is still intact and there is a good probability of hair regrowth.
Alopecia Hair Loss Treatment Brisbane, Results:
- Understand and focus on all symptoms and causes
- Alopecia Areata is autoimmune
- Alopecia Areata is triggered by your immune system
- Health and nutrition should be considered to support the immune system
- Hair cell health must be identified and addressed accordingly
- Alopecia Areata can be scarring or non-scarring
- Combination therapy delivers best results
We always check the health of the hair cell and state of the hair cycle to ensure we have a sound base to begin treatment. We found Miss M had over 20 hairs per centimeter not growing properly, diffuse thinning. This means limited cellular immunity of the hair cell to combat the internal autoimmune attack. Returning the hair to its genetic hair type with genetic code by providing the body with all the elements for cellular health in the right pH environment, is a very positive start.
Alopecia Areata can be difficult to treat as it can appear in an otherwise healthy individual, but with Miss M we had a history of other autoimmune health conditions. Additionally, we had recent antibiotics, surgery, graduation stress and low ferritin. The most important thing is correct diagnosis and taking a holistic approach to support the immune system internally and topically in combination therapy.
